About
Rosa Loveszy pursued her MFA in Painting and Drawing (2019) and Sculpture (2021) at the State University of New York at New Paltz. She has a background in technical rendering and illustration. She received her BA in Scientific Illustration from Arcadia University in 2016. Early on her work focused on archaeological reconstruction as she participated in research projects in Spain, Sicily, and North America. Contributing to scientific study has been instrumental in shaping the way Rosa engages with her artistic research. In the last several years Rosa’s studio practice slowly expanded, growing beyond two-dimensional renderings. She discovered that working sculpturally excited her desire for problem solving and material exploration. Rosa has embraced a multidisciplinary practice using wax, metal, and natural fibers while incorporating the use of digital media and technology. She often finds ways to incorporate traditional materials and digital applications in the form of 3D modeling combined with tools such as the laser cutter, CNC router and synthetic and ceramic 3d printers. This method of working enables her to capitalize on the ability to manufacture complex components, developing structures that otherwise could not be rendered by hand.
Exploration in the virtual world sparked her yearning to experience a new type of artistic space. Rosa is an avid explorer of the outdoors, which inspire many of the forms present in her work. As her practice continues Rosa strives to give shape to the invisible realm of microscopic mechanisms present in nature reflecting the interconnectivity in our universe.
